Member Service Representative - Full Time

Position Summary:

The Member Service Representative (MSR) performs routine member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers and check cashing, along with account assistance for members, including opening accounts.

Primary Duties and/or Responsibilities:

 1. Performs routine member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers and check cashing.

2. Receives share deposits and loan and VISA payments, and enter into in-house computer system.

3. Receives payments for mortgage, installment and share secured loans, ensuring that payments equal the amount due and that all late charges, if applicable, are collected.

4. Provides members with the forms necessary to transact business at the Credit Union.

5. Examines checks for endorsements and negotiability.

6. Provides members with proper receipts for payments.

7. Cross-sells all services offered by the Credit Union. 

8. Responds to members' requests, problems and complaints, and/or direct them to the proper person for specific information and assistance.

9. Receives various information pertaining to members' accounts and route to proper department for processing.

10. Processes international check items.

11. Processes stop payments on share draft accounts.

12. Provides routine information on Credit Union services or policies, including eligibility for membership, types of Credit Union accounts, insurance on loans, loan policies, interest rates, current dividend rates, locations, office hours and telephone numbers.

13. Provides members with account status, including current balances & loan pay-offs.

14. Explains member services, which are available at the Credit Union.

15. Assists members in opening new account.

16. Prepares form letters to members concerning inquiries on transactions directly affecting their accounts.

17. The list of primary duties is not exhaustive.  It may be supplemented as necessary from time to time.

Position Qualifications:

 1. Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for servicing Credit Union members and projecting a positive image as representative for the Credit Union.

2. Extensive knowledge of all Credit Union products and services. 

3. High school diploma or equivalent. 

4. Experience in the teller and/or member service area of a credit union or financial institution is preferred.

5. Intermediate mathematical skill required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.).

6.  Pursue continued education when available.
